En diciembre honramos a nuestros Héroes del Hogar de 2022. Este es un programa estatal de reconocimiento de cuidadores que celebra a los cuidadores que han sido identificados por su agencia como destacados durante el último año. En Blossom, los asistentes con la mayor cantidad de puntos acumulados durante el año son elegidos para este honor.
¿Quién ha sido la mayor influencia en su trabajo?
Mi familia. Cuando mi madre y mi padre comenzaron a envejecer, me dijeron que deseaban que yo los cuidara. Así es como empecé en este campo.
¿Cuál es el desafío más grande en este tipo de trabajo?
Asegurarse de hacer un buen trabajo. Asegurarse de estar haciendo lo mejor para su cliente es un desafío constante.
¿Existe algún recuerdo en particular que le llame la atención?
Mi último cliente era una persona muy buena y lamentablemente falleció de manera reciente. Le costaba mucho conectarse con otras personas pero se abrió conmigo.
¿Cuál es el aspecto más sorprendente de este tipo de trabajo?
Es muy sorprendente trabajar para personas diferentes. Un año trabaja para una persona y al año siguiente esa persona puede haber fallecido. Todo está cambiando siempre.
¿Qué es lo que más le gusta de trabajar para Blossom?
Blossom es una buena empresa. Se reconoce el trabajo esforzado de su gente.
¿Cuál es el logro por el cual se siente más orgullosa?
Yo vengo de República Dominicana y logré mi ciudadanía el año pasado. Me mudé a los Estados Unidos el año 2014.
¿Cuál es su mayor aprendizaje al trabajar como auxiliar de cuidados en el hogar?
Cuando uno cuida a personas tiene que hacer un buen trabajo. Uno debe asegurarse de tener una actitud positiva y que todo esté bien con el cliente.
¿De qué forma el trabajo de cuidado en el hogar le ha cambiado a usted como persona?
Me ha cambiado mucho. Uno se da cuenta de lo valiosa que es la vida porque un día está aquí y al siguiente ya no está.
In December we honored our 2022 Heroes in the Home. This is a Statewide Caregiver Recognition Program that celebrates caregivers who have been identified by their agency as outstanding over the past year. At Blossom, the aides with the most accrued points over the year are chosen for this honor.
Who was the biggest influence on your work?
My family. When my mom and dad got older, they told me they wanted me to take care of them. That is how I got started in the field.
What is the biggest challenge in this type of work?
Making sure you do a good job. It is a constant challenge to make sure you are doing the best for your client.
Is there a particular memory that stands out for you?
My last client was a very good guy and sadly passed away recently. He had a hard time connecting with other people but opened up to me.
What’s the most surprising aspect of this type of work?
Working for different people is very surprising. One year you work for one person, and the next year that person may pass away. Everything is always changing.
What do you like most about working for Blossom?
Blossom is a good company. You recognize the hard work of your people.
What achievement are you most proud of?
I am from the Dominican Republic and completed my citizenship last year. I moved to the United States in 2014.
What is your biggest take-away from working as a home care aide?
When you take care of people you have to do a good job. You must make sure you have a positive attitude and that everything is fine with the client.
How has home care work changed you as a person?
A lot. You realize how precious life is because one day you’re here and the next day you’re not.
